TMAG is the second Australian oldest museum, which is established in 1843. Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is a combined museum, art gallery and herbarium which safeguards the physical evidence of Tasmania's natural and cultural heritage, and the cultural identity of Tasmanians.

TMAG is where show the State Collections of Tasmania: almost 800,000 objects as diverse as fossils and fine art. The collections represent the essence of the society's values and are a major reference point for Tasmanians to gain a greater appreciation of what it means to be Tasmanian and to understand our place within the global community.
